Today was a really beautiful day in the mountains after the dense morning fog cleared off. We were very fortunate and the temperatures warmed considerably. After breakfast, I was off on the trail in the dark along with many others, but with the fog and light mist, I realized that I would need my rain pants again so I quickly stopped to put them on.

This pilgrim struggled in the weather yesterday as well!

A tiny church

Only a few minutes down the trail I found D and C (the "doctors" from CA), and we hiked together the entire day through ancient farming villages with lots of dairy cows which left us gifts along the way. We then had dinner together later with a big group - some old friends and some brand new ones! A couple from Seattle and a couple from Manitoba joined us for dinner, and we had a delightful evening. The food was the least interesting part to be sure.

Beautiful green Spanish farmland

The sign I took a photo of today is important - not for the amount of km remaining but that we are now out of the region of Castillo Leon and into Galicia!!

Dinner companions

Well, tomorrow is on to Sarria (where many people join the Camino to hike only the last 100km). It is a short walk of just over 11 miles, and I have a rest day scheduled there. It will get very busy from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela. I had planned on doing laundry in Sarria, but my hosts did it for me today at my hotel. They are a wonderful couple (expats from Germany) that opened a hotel here. I came out for dinner and there was a laundry basket with my clothes perfectly folded inside - Marie Kondo would be impressed! 😉
